Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007: We say goodbye to Brittney and let her get on with her life. We are the last to leave her home (Kamryn and Steve had departed earlier for Sydney) and for the first time in about a month, Brittney is without relatives. One can only assume there was a quiet celebration that day.

As for Rylan, Stephanie, and Erik, we decided to drive up the north coast of Queensland to see what there was to see.

Our plan was to drive a couple hours up north and visit the World's Largest Sand Island, Fraser Island. The access point for Fraser Island is Hervey Bay, a town who's sole existence seems to be for backpackers and other tourists looking to get to the world's largest sand island.

When we arrived in Hervey Bay, we learned quickly that you just can't show up in Hervey Bay and expect to arrange anything. It was booked. So, we made reservations for some fun stuff to be enjoyed in the following week (which you will see later) and we continued up the coast.

We made it as far as Rockhampton, the beef capital of Australia, before we could drive no further. So we looked for lodging in the Omaha of Oz, and we found this:

A giant mobile home park with a wide variety of accommodations. We chose the deluxe home with
triple bunk beds, a kitchenette, and a master bedroom.
I could have stayed forever.
